With a high-profile hire, Phillips auction house aims at market-moving sales
Phillips, a boutique auction house known for selling edgy contemporary art, said Monday it hired a former Sotheby’s rainmaker to bolster its chances of selling modern masters.
David Norman, a Sotheby’s veteran in impressionist and modern art who left the bigger auction house three years ago, has been named Phillips’s chairman of the Americas. He is expected to start immediately.
