A man was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a 70-year-old relative on Sunday in Gloucester County.
The victim, a Woodbury Heights resident, called 911 shortly after 11 a.m. to report that Anthony P. Delconte, 29, of Philadelphia, stabbed her in the stomach in an unprovoked attack before leaving on foot, according to court documents. Responding police officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the lower abdomen and she was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
Delconte was located a short time later in a neighboring community and arrested without incident, police said. He had blood on his clothing and a folding knife with blood on it in his possession, authorities said in an affidavit of probable cause filed with the charges. Delconte allegedly told an officer, “I had no choice. I had to do it.
