A 21-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of several charges stemming from an overnight hit-and-run crash that seriously hurt a Phoenix Police officer.
Just after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a car reportedly slammed into a patrol vehicle, trapping the officer inside.
Phoenix firefighters were able to cut the officer out of the car, and he was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants in the other car reportedly tried to run away but were eventually caught and detained. The driver of the car was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
"Early information indicates the officer was going west on Oak Street through the intersection when a vehicle going north ran the red light and struck the officer's car," Sgt. Melissa Soliz said.On March 17, Phoenix Police say 21-year-old Marlon De Jesus Hernandez was booked into jail for multiple charges stemming from the collision.Location of where the incident happened:
