Google is teasing AI-enhanced Call Screen features to block spam calls, and the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro might get them.
. Jonathan Eccles, Google’s group product manager for the Phone by Google app, said the company wants to “solve bigger and more important problems” concerning unwanted calls, from spam to robocalling.
Google wants a “future where you should never ever, ever be annoyed at the thought of your phone ringing. It should always be a moment where you assume it’s something important or something delightful. Nothing should ever bother you. And at the same time, you should never ever feel like you’re ineffective or unproductive on any phone call.”That’s where a “multi-step, multi-turn conversational AI” would come in. If this sounds like ChatGPT, well, it’s not exactly that.
That’s just speculation, as Google didn’t reveal specifics. But Google thinks that “AI is what takes you there into the future.”
