Plano and its economic development after explosive growth in the past decade are front and center for the next decade.
“Plano’s growth periods have come and gone,” Doug McDonald, director of economic development for Plano, told. “We’ve gone through those growing pains and now we’re at a level of maturity where we can look at how do we continue to reinvest in ourselves to continue to be that city of choice for business and for residents?”Plano has adopted economic strategies, such as redevelopment, to keep itself relevant as a business center in North Texas and beyond.
“Plano is open for business, and we want to be user-friendly,” Plano Mayor John Muns said at the event. The city wanted to observe how the current economic program responds to the needs of the environment and then develop one that keeps the future in mind, McDonald said.Plano is the fourth largest city in D-FW and plays host to over 12,000 businesses, according to the city’s 2022 community profile. Plano is also home to 35All of that coupled with a strong school district, solid infrastructure and a highly educated workforce makes Plano an easy sell, McDonald said.
