San Antonio voters will be deciding on six bond propositions totaling $1.2 billion in the May 7 election.Over the years, we’ve gotten accustomed to the rough contours of San Antonio bond programs.
But this year’s bond program stands out both for its scale and the range of its ambitions. With a price tag of $1.2 billion, the proposed 2022-27 bond is 40 percentage bigger than the one passed by voters five years ago and more than double the amount approved in 2012. As a result, the city plans to pump bond money directly into affordable housing projects, to the tune of $150 million. That item is one of six bond propositions that will go before voters on May 7, with early voting beginning on April 25.
