Ancient and Future Pokémon are coming to the TCG.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Pokémon Trading Card Game will soon incorporate the concepts of Ancient and Future Paradox Pokémon. It's already apparent how one particular new mechanic, the type-switching Terastallization that's the focus of the Pokémon TCG's Obsidian Flames set, will function in tabletop play. But despite being introduced in the same video game, Ancient and Future Pokémon remain a bit of a mystery.

Paradox Pokémon first appeared in the video games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as a major plot point. They're described as different evolutionary stages of more familiar Pokémon and often have different names, appearances, and move sets to match. Scarlet tended to focus more on Ancient Pokémon, while Violet focused on Future.

Which Pokémon Have Ancient And Future Versions In The TCG Three Ancient Paradox Pokémon and three Future Paradox Pokémon have been revealed ahead of the Paradox Rift expansion for the Pokémon TCG. Each set has one card that comes in regular and Holofoil varieties, as well as one Pokémon ex card.

There will almost certainly be more Ancient and Future Pokémon revealed when the set becomes available for the Pokémon TCG. These will probably draw from those whose Ancient or Future forms were introduced in Scarlet and Violet. For now, though, there's little to go on when determining how Paradox Pokémon cards work. Things will surely become clearer after the full release. The Paradox Rift set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be available on November 3, 2023, in the U.S., but more information may become available after its Japanese release on October 27.
