COLUMBUS, Ohio — A driver is dead after a semitrailer crashed into an overpass on Interstate 70 in east Columbus, according to the
First responders were called to the scene of the crash on I-70 westbound at Interstate 270 just before 1 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the semi struck the overpass and then caught fire. One person was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and later pronounced dead at 1:24 p.m., according to police. It's unknown if any other vehicles were involved.It's unclear to what extent the overpass was damaged in the crash. A spokesperson with the Ohio Department of Transportation told 10TV that an inspector is heading out to the scene to look at the bridge that was hit.
