Prince George's County police said Olando Bharat, 44, was killed when he drove off the road and hit a pole.
An initial investigation found that the driver was going east on Old Fort Road when he went off the road and hit a pole. It is not known what caused him to go off the road, police said.
He was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later identified him as Olando Bharat, 44, of Fort Washington.The most important news stories of the day, curated by Post editors and delivered every morning.
