Dallas police shot and killed a man during a shootout in Far East Dallas early Sunday, according to the department.
The shooting happened about 12:40 a.m. on Barnes Bridge Road, near Desdemona Drive. Officers spotted and approached a stolen vehicle. The driver pulled out a handgun and shot at the officers, according to the department, before driving away.
The driver lost control, flipped the car and fired at officers again after the crash. The officers returned fire, killing the shooter, authorities said.Police did not immediately identify the shooter or say how many officers fired their weapons.
