Rochester, N.Y. — Police made a trio of gun arrests in the city Saturday.
Police said they found Tyrail Hill, 37, with a loaded Ruger .22 handgun, suspected cocaine and approximately 1 pound of marijuana early Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, on West Main Street. Officers stopped a car on West Main Street around 1:40 a.m. because it had license plates that didn't belong to the vehicle. During the ensuing investigation, police found a loaded Ruger .22 handgun, suspected cocaine and approximately 1 pound of marijuana.
The second arrest happened around 2 a.m., when officers in the East End bar district learned of suspicious male who was possibly armed on Lawrence Street. Police said Shabazz Barnes, 32, ran from them but was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Police found him with a loaded SCCY 9mm handgun in his pocket. Barnes is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
The third arrest happened just after 6 p.m. on North Clinton Avenue near Scrantom Street, where officers tried to stop a man suspected of carrying a handgun. Police said Josue Flores, 28, ran toward Evergreen Street when they tried to stop him, throwing a loaded SCCY 9mm handgun during the foot chase. Officers eventually caught him. He's charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police said he was on parole for a 2016 weapons conviction.
