A Dallas police officer and K9 were shot and injured during a confrontation with a suspect overnight.
A police officer, a K9, and a person described as a"suspect" have been shot after an incident in Southeast Dallas on Thursday night.Police said a chase ensued after the officer responded to the location, leading to the shooting at the intersection of Cypress Avenue and Briggs Street.
Dallas Police are investigating an officer involved shooting near the intersection of Cypress and Briggs.Both the officer and his K9 were shot, police said. The officer was shot multiple times in the shoulder and leg area, though the injuries to the both the officer and the K9 are described as non-life threatening.Video of the K9 and his partner was taken while responding to the incident that led to the shooting.
According to police, the preliminary investigation determined the officer discharged his weapon, hitting the suspect as he returned fire.
