A search and rescue operation is being conducted on Lay Lake in Shelby County after an empty boat was found.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says that an empty 2022 Ranger bass boat was found in Spring Creek on Lay Lake in Shelby County. The vacant vessel was reported at 11:33 a.m. Saturday. The following agencies are currently conducting search and rescue operations: Calera Dive Tam, Alexander City Rescue Squad, Childersburg Rescue Squad, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Aviation Unit, along with Troopers from ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
