The Big Butterfly Count, launched by Butterfly Conservation, is a UK-wide survey that asks the public to count the amount of butterflies they see. The number of butterflies counted each year is used as an assessment of the health of the UK's environment. The initiative, which is the world's biggest survey of butterflies, began July 16 and ends this Sunday.
