Japan's Princess Mako registered her marriage to her college sweetheart Kei Komuro, who is a commoner, giving up her royal status in accordance with the country's law
TOKYO—Princess Mako on Tuesday registered her marriage to college sweetheart Kei Komuro, a recent graduate of Fordham University’s law school in New York, giving up her royal status under Japanese law.
There was no pomp or wedding ceremony on the day the princess, 30 years old, left her palace for good. A palace official delivered papers to a government office registering the marriage with Mr. Komuro, also 30, which was all that was needed to make it official.
