PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Stark County church has transformed its parking lot into a pumpkin patch to raise money for local and global missions.
The church received more than 800 pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, which were grown on a Navajo reservation in New Mexico. Some of the money raised will benefit the church's Compassion Foster Closet, which provides clothing, backpacks and other items at no cost to foster families and some lower-income families.
Other proceeds will go towards humanitarian aid projects in Honduras, India and Africa, including an effort supported by the church to build water wells in Kenya.
