The Boilermakers advance to face No. 15 seed St. Peter’s on Friday in the East Region semifinals in Philadelphia. That miserable stretch of offensive futility felt like curtains for Texas. Coming in, teams were 58-3 when going on a 20-0 run this season. “Basketball’s a game of runs,” Jones said. “One team makes a run, you’ve got to respond. We responded a little bit too late, but we were still in the fight. It just showed how tough we are, how determined we were to stay in this game.”
But with starters Courtney Ramey, who spent most of the night face-guarding All-American Jaden Ivey , Timmy Allen and Bishop hamstrung by foul trouble, UT had to find some bench production.
