The monarch's dressmaker announced that new clothes and accessories will use faux fur, prompting props from PETA.
Queen Elizabeth II is set to switch to faux fur clothing and accessories in a move which has been praised and called a “sign of the times” by animal activists.
"If Her Majesty is due to attend an engagement in particularly cold weather, from 2019 onwards fake fur will be used to make sure she stays warm,” Kelly, who has worked for the queen for the past 25 years, writes in her new book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe. “This new policy is a sign of the times, as 95 percent of the British public also refuses to wear real fur,” PETA director of international programs Mimi Bekhechi said in a statement.
