The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not appear on the palace balcony as they’re not senior royals. The couple stepped back from duties in 2020. “Her Majesty embodies and symbolizes all that the British hold dear - devotion to selfless duty, dignity, humility, hard work, stoicism and a very proper ‘stiff upper lip,’” she said. “As she herself declared on her 21st birthday, she would dedicate her ‘whole life whether it be long or short’ to the service of her people.”
The 40-year-old wore a navy dress with an oversized hat as Princess Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, looked on. Pope Francis sent a telegram to Queen Elizabeth offering his prayers and good wishes amid Trooping the Colour.
