Chainsaw Man's recent chapters have been filled with dramatic twists, and chapter #146 keeps that going by revealing the manga's final villain.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #146.Chainsaw Man chapter #146 has been released, and it reveals the identity of the series’ final villain. Recent chapters of Chainsaw Man have brought up how according to Nostradamus’ prophecy, in July 1999, the Great King of Terror will descend upon the world and destroy humanity. Nothing specific has been revealed about the Great King of Terror, but it’s still been set up as the biggest villain in the series.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Now, however, Chainsaw Man’s Great King of Terror has been revealed as the Death Devil, the eldest of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the strongest of all devils. Considering how she’s supposed to be even stronger than Yoru, Fami, and even Makima, she’s bound to be the deadliest villain in all of Chainsaw Man, and the lengths to which the Chainsaw Man Church is going to oppose her through their “Chainsaw Man War” are appropriately drastic. The Death Devil could easily be the final villain of Chainsaw Man, and the series has already done a lot to justify that sort of development.

As terrifying as the Chainsaw Man Church’s plan might it, it’s actually the perfect way to deal with the Death Devil. Both Denji and Yoru have been established as being weaker than normal, Denji because of how the world sees Chainsaw Man as a hero and Yoru because of how severely weakened she was by Pochita, so starting a war centered around Chainsaw Man does a great job of circumventing that while remaining consistent to the established mechanics of the series.

Something else to consider is the idea of Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto’s feelings of exhaustion. In a recent interview, Fujimoto remarked that he doesn’t have time to do everything he wants on a weekly schedule and thinks it would be nice to transition into only writing, so it might be that he’s feeling burnt out and is looking to end the series soon.
