R Kelly, who is facing racketeering and sex abuse charges, allegedly bribed a government employee in 1994 so that he could obtain a fake I.D. and licence to marry the underage singer.
R Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was 27 when he married Aaliyah at age 15. The marriage certificate reported on at the time byQuestions over how the marriage, which was later annulled, was able to take place have hung over Kelly throughout his music career.
He is currently facing charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in upcoming trials in Chicago and New York, which he denies. In August, he was denied bail and is currently in custody in Chicago.: R Kelly was arrested in July on charges of heading up a racketeering organization recruiting fans and underage girls for illegal sexual activity, and the latest charges expand on that indictment.
