We chat with ATouristsGuidetoLove star Rachael Leigh Cook (RachaelLCook) her latest Netflix rom-com, the honor of depicting Vietnam in a bright light, and the possibility of a Psych return:
Take a trip and fall in love with Netflix's latest jet-setting rom-com, A Tourist's Guide to Love. The film centers on an executive for a tourist agency who, fresh off a surprise breakup, goes on assignment as an undercover shopper for her company to potentially acquire an independent agency in Vietnam. She quickly falls in love with the country and her expatriate tour guide, putting her in a tough spot between her romantic and professional lives.
Rachael Leigh Cook: I'm still in awe that I got to have this experience, I'm still in awe that Netflix trusted me to make another movie for them, I'm pinching myself that we're talking about this movie right now. I take zero credit for the beauty and majesty that is all of Vietnam, but I feel thrilled that I get to sort of be the accidental tour guide to people getting to see so much of this country from the comfort of their own homes.
I know that this film definitely made it a must travel destination for me now when I can finally get some time for that! You know, you're right, I gotta take a vacation every now and then, just not as an undercover shopper. It really could've! Yours and Scott Ly's dynamic is really just so charming. What was that like, getting to build that rapport with him off-camera as well as on?
Rachael Leigh Cook: I would be thrilled to get that call. In the meantime, it's kind of hilarious that I am living the real-life version of what they say Abigail is up to, which is traveling. Kind of weird, right? I don't know, maybe I just dipped into another dimension, I'm not sure how that works, but it feels like what happened.
