It should come as no surprise that Donald Trump’s racist “go back to where you come from” rhetoric of ignorance catches on with his base of supporters. Two white women who were eating lunch in a Burger King this week repeated Trump’s racism word for word when they told the manager of the restaurant to “go back to Mexico” because he was speaking Spanish to a staff member.on social media. “Go back to Mexico,” says one of the women.
In the video, one of the women can be heard telling the manager, Ricky Castillo, “You’re being very rude,” after hearing him speak Spanish. “No, you’re being rude by being prejudiced,” Castillo replies. The one bright point of this otherwise bleak-yet-unsurprisingly-ignorant video is that the manager, rather than remain polite and just take it because he’s at work, decides to unleash a masterful lesson on these two entitled women. He calls them out for being ignorant, rightly so, and then asks them to leave.
“Freedom of speech, ma’am,” he says. “Guess what, ma’am, I’m not Mexican. You’re being very prejudiced and I want you out of my restaurant right now.” One of the women says she wants to finish her meal first but the manager, who is Puerto Rican, threatens to call the police and report them as trespassers, so they finally leave. “Just have a nice day and don’t come back,” he tells them.Would these ignorant women been this rude if he was speaking French.
