The designer's LA show celebrated the breadth of Golden State style—and his own range, too.
It’s a sentiment plenty of New Yorkers shared during Peak Pandemic times: “Should I head out West?” For many, the city felt like it was closing in, and the siren songs of blue skies, green pastures, and, most importantly, wide open spaces seemed louder and louder as the months went on. Even quintessential New Yorker Ralph Lauren wasn’t immune.
From there we shifted to Polo Ralph Lauren, arguably the most impactful moments of the entire presentation. Families took to the runway; cute kids made the audience gasp, and the styling showcased the wide breadth of what the world of Ralph has to offer. It was here we saw the So-Cal surfer vibes and Nor-Cal outdoorsy vibes the state is so well-known for. Tie-dye sweatshirts and bucket hats, teamed with puffers vests, jumpsuits, and hiking boots, drove things home.
As the show ended, instead of a single file runway finale walk, models lined the stairs of space and Lauren took a bow to a standing ovation.
