Outside linebacker Daniel Hardy wasn’t surprised by wide receiver Lance McCutcheon’s preseason performance against the Chargers, having seen him shine during their time at Montana State.
THOUSAND OAKS — What Rams rookie wide receiver Lance McCutcheon executed in his memorable 60-yard touchdown reception last week against the Chargers isn’t easy to replicate, but Daniel Hardy had seen the dynamic play before.
McCutcheon left a lasting impression in his preseason debut with five catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns along with a 2-point conversion reception. McCutcheon quickly became a favorite target of third-string quarterback Bryce Perkins and now there’s a chance of him catching passes from Matthew Stafford in the regular season.
There is also Brandon Powell, the team’s return specialist, and Jacob Harris, the talented former tight end who is also contributing on special teams. Maybe the Rams could get by with three or four inside linebackers with Bobby Wagner, Ernest Jones, Travin Howard, who’s dealing with a groin injury, and Christian Rozeboom, a special teams ace. But Jake Gervase and Jake Hummel are also contributing on special teams.
