Here’s why: The Rangers, after an 11-3 win over the Oakland Athletics at the Oakland Coliseum on Sunday, are 25-15 and off to their best 40-game start since 2012. They’re 10 games above .500 for the first time since 2019. And they just went 7-3 on a 10-game West Coast trip with series wins against three American League West opponents.“It’s a good way to head home,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said.
Leadoff hitter Marcus Semien, Grossman and Nathaniel Lowe each singled, and García returned to the plate and belted his second grand slam of the season to left field to cap an eight-run eighth and make it 11-3.“We’ve let some tough games get away from us,” Bochy said. “But today, those guys were determined to find a way to get it done. A big inning like that, you almost forget it was tied after seven.
“We were just trying to continue doing the same things we’ve been doing,” García said through an interpreter. “Just sticking with the plan. So far, it’s given [us] a lot of confidence.”It was something of a cathartic breakthrough for the Rangers’ bats, which certainly scored enough to win the four-game series, but not in the same kind of bunches they’d become accustomed to totaling.
