Indiana Jones Villains Ranked From Bad to Pure Evil
After years of rumors and speculation, the fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise is finally hitting theaters! A fifth film was teased by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas before the fourth installment Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was even released. Just like Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny went through many development changes.
10. Mola Ram — 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' Here’s a case where the Indiana Jones franchise has simply not aged well. Spielberg and Lucas were both going through personal issues while making The Temple of Doom, and as a result the 1984 prequel is far darker than Raiders of the Lost Ark. It strayed away from the first film’s basis in actual history, focusing on the supernatural and the absurd.
7. Klaber — 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' There’s always room in an Indiana Jones film for a blunt, stupid henchman who just needs to get punched in the face, and Boyd Holbrook’s character Klaber certainly fills that description. Here’s a character who is exactly who he says he is; Klaber is a straight up fascist who is willing to murder anyone that questions the authority of his commanders.
It’s a somewhat disappointing role for Mikkelsen considering that films like The Hunt and Another Round prove that he is a much more nuanced and accomplished actor than viewers have expected if they were only familiar with his American work. Voller is certainly evil and has some ludicrous ideas about how to secretly win World War II for the Nazis, but his ending battle with Indy and Helena feels like it was calling for a little more absurdism on his part.
