Hutchinson’s testimony about former President Donald Trump’s behavior following the 2020 election reached 13.17 million people last week, Nielsen ratings data showed.Leading up to Hutchinson’s testimony on June 28, the Jan. 6 hearings saw significant drops in viewership, with the second installment of hearings only drawing 10 million viewers — half the views that the initial prime-time hearing enjoyed.
The numbers from Hutchinson’s testimony indicate a 28% increase, according to the Associated Press. They also top the average viewership of the four daytime hearings by 23%. In the hearing, Hutchinson made several explosive allegations, including sharing a story she heard from a top Secret Service official that Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limousine and reached for the neck of his head of security when told he could not go to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after his speech on the White House Ellipse.
