A participating team in each of the past seven Super Bowls made it there after suffering a losing season two years prior. Are the Cardinals next?
Gannon expounded on those thoughts by telling the hosts on “NFL Now” that the first order of business is hiring his coaching staff, starting with an offensive and defensive coordinator, and then beginning to lay the foundation for his vision of the franchise’s immediate future.
It’s that type of locked-in focus and dedication, in part, that led to Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill and new General Manager Monto Ossenfort zeroing in on Gannon as head coach. They were overwhelmed with his passion and his take-charge personality, which they felt they needed to re-establish the right culture within the franchise after moving on from Kliff Kingsbury.
“His reputation as a leader, his ability to connect to players, to staff, to the rest of the coaches. His ability to work with the personnel department and provide a vision for the type of players that we’re going to go out and see. It was apparent that Jonathan shared a lot of the same values that I value and that Michael values.”
