The National Weather Service has upgraded its fire weather watch to a red flag warning for the Hill Country, Edwards Plateau and portions of the Rio Grande for this afternoon and into early evening.
Due to breezy southerly winds, low humidity and dry vegetation, the areas are at risk of starting fires. Also, the weather service has upgraded the risk of severe thunderstorms Monday — into Monday night — that could bring their own risks, like large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.The weather service advises avoiding activities that cause spark or flame, not parking cars on dry grass, disposing of cigarettes properly, checking trailer chains, and obeying city, county and state burn bans.
