The RGA’s spending, more than double what it paid for TV advertising in 2014, reflects Arizona’s standing as a swing state.

The partisan group that seeks to put Republicans in governors' chairs across the nation has booked over $10 million in Arizona airtime this fall — a preview of the flood of political advertising that will hit television screens across the state.

He said the advertising would"not allow people who fled liberal strongholds for the Grand Canyon state to forget" what drew them to the state. The spending signals that the amount of airtime devoted to political advertising, already being bankrolled by the candidates themselves, will only increase closer to Election Day. Combined with other races on the ballot, including a U.S. Senate contest that could determine which party controls the chamber, Arizonans are likely to get clobbered by political messaging for months to come.

GOP opponent Steve Gaynor’s six-figure advertising expenditure allowed him to tout his business acumen, and former congressman Matt Salmon's December digital debut played up parents' role in education.
