Weekend at Bernie’s hit theaters 30 years ago, on July 5, 1989, and went on to become one of the stupidest movies ever made. The opening plays like a quirky homage to summertime in New York City. Two guys—Andrew McCarthy as Larry, and Jonathan Silverman as Richard—walk through Central Park on a Sunday, on their way to putting in overtime at their insurance job.
