Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT While Rick and Morty’s first season 7 teaser trailer looks like it will address the show’s most important plot, the outing can’t do this without drawing attention to former star Justin Roiland’s absence. Justin Roiland played Rick and Morty in the first six seasons of the Adult Swim hit. He also played the show’s primary villains Rick Prime and Evil Morty, as both of these characters were variants of the show’s eponymous heroes.
While Roiland’s Rick and Morty recasting was almost inevitable, this does not mean it will be easy for the series. Roiland played both of the show’s heroes and both its main villains through earlier seasons and, while Rick and Morty could have focused on other supporting characters in earlier episodes, there are no outings that don’t feature both the title characters front and center. Despite this, the show’s creators are adamant that the series will remain the same.
Rick and Morty Season 7 Won’t Ignore Rick Prime The first teaser for Rick and Morty season 7 was recently posted on Adult Swim’s Twitter, promising an upcoming release date reveal. The teaser was promising since it focused on addressing the Rick Prime plot, but it was concerning for the same reason.
This is ambitious since it involves two of Roiland’s characters taking center stage throughout Rick and Morty season 7. However, this is also a good thing for the show’s story more broadly. After the season 6 premiere set up an exciting battle between Rick and his nemesis only to drop this story until the finale, it is theoretically great to see that their feud is finally being addressed.
Rick And Morty Season 7 Has Nowhere To Hide Roiland’s Exit However, there is no getting around the fact that Rick and Morty season 7 is doing a terrible job of distracting viewers from Roiland’s absence. While Solar Opposites replaced Roiland with a new actor and immediately addressed the change, Rick and Morty season 7 is not only not addressing the switch, but actively giving one of Roiland’s characters a larger role.
