“The World Series was a significant consideration,” Manfred said Thursday. “It’s not only the ballpark was a great place for the World Series, a great host, but when you think back to that period of time, Texas, Arlington, [owner] Ray [Davis] really stepped up in a moment of time that it was difficult to host any event.The Rangers’ only previous turn as All-Star Game host was in 1995 when the National League beat the American League 3-2 at what was then The Ballpark in Arlington .
The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, which was a joint sponsor of the bid, along with the cities of Arlington and Fort Worth, estimates the game will bring $90 million worth of economic impact to the area. For the 2023 game in Seattle, for example, MLB alone had plans of booking 20,000 hotel nights.
“When we had our first All-Star Game, we had to spread a lot of our events out over the metroplex,” Davis said. “Because of the growth of Arlington, we can hold the majority of events locally, and make it a lot logistically easier to do.”
