Kang actor Jonathan Majors supports the idea of Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man returning in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. It has been nearly four years since Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame. During this time as the wait grows for Avengers 5, speculation has risen about if Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the multiverse. The actor has largely kept his distance from the shared universe as Marvel Studios began laying the foundation for the Multiverse Saga.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Marvel Studios has not revealed much information about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and which MCU heroes will be featured opposite Jonathan Majors' Kang. During a new interview with Life Hacker, the actor was asked who he wants to see return and interact with his multiverse villain. Majors did not hesitate to show his support for Robert Downey Jr.'s Avengers 5 return as Iron Man. On top of being a big fan of Downey Jr.
This is like a Robert Downey Jr. day, he just keeps popping in [to my head]. Like, I know he’s an OG. I mean, he’s one of the originals. I’m just such a huge fan of him as an actor. I think what he did with Iron Man was such a gift to the culture at large. I would love to be across from him on screen to see how our philosophies, acting-wise and character-wise, just personally, match up. You know, I find him to be such a fascinating artist, which is why Iron Man is so fascinating.

An Iron Man variant would not be a main member of the Avengers team assembled most likely. The MCU needs the new and current crop of heroes to be responsible for saving the day in the next two Avengers films. As a result, Iron Man's Avengers 5 return would likely be in a limited capacity.
There is still a question about if Robert Downey Jr. would be willing to return as Iron Man. He has finally moved past the MCU role that defined his career for over a decade, is back to tackling more dramatic roles, and seems happy not to be playing Tony Stark anymore. There could still be some appeal to him to playing Iron Man in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty since it would be a slightly or very different interpretation of Tony Stark, which could appeal to him.
