Rockets insider: Collapse against Wizards an all-too-familiar sight

The Rockets were crushed in the fourth quarter, especially when they went to their bench for 3:11 before coach Stephen Silas called a timeout to start getting starters back on the floor. But things began to fall apart much earlier, when the Rockets could not build on a strong first half, helping the Wizards to their feet to surge past and“They started to hit shots and we put our heads down a little bit,” Rockets forward K.J. Martin said. “We got punched in the mouth and we didn’t respond well.
“I told them in the huddle it wasn’t going to be easy,” Silas said. “I told them, if we want to take the game, we could take it. But I don’t know if there was a factor of us playing so well that we were taking it for granted. We’re not a team that can do that. We’re not a team that can take anything for granted. It’s just disappointing. It’s actually unacceptable — unacceptable play.”
Kyle Kuzma was inexplicably left alone to enjoy shooting drills, scoring 24 of his 33 points in the second half and hitting all five of his 3s in the fourth quarter with only his last, a corner 3 in the final minute, tightly contested.
