In the middle of April, right-hander Ryan Feltner looked like part of the Rockies’ problem. Now he’s pitching like he just might be part of the solution.
Feltner was outstanding Tuesday night in Colorado’s 5-1 victory over the Guardians at Progressive Field, yielding just one unearned run on five hits over six innings.
The Rockies beat the Guardians for the second game in a row to clinch the three-game series and give the Rockies their first series victory of the season.Blackmon led off the game with a home run and added an RBI double and scored a run in Colorado’s three-run second. His leadoff homer was the 40th of his career, moving up to ninth all-time in major league history. His two runs scored gave him 892 for his career, tying him with Hall of Famer Larry Walker for the second-most in franchise history.
Doyle, who debuted Monday, went 3 for 4, drove in the first run of his career and stole two bases. His first big-league hit arrived in the second inning when he lined a sharp single to left off Peyton Battenfield. Feltner, who opened the season 0-2 with an 8.78 ERA over his first three starts, struck out six, didn’t walk a batter, and needed just 82 pitches . Over his last two starts, Feltner has pitched 11 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run, slicing his ERA to 4.69. Last Thursday, he blanked Philadelphia for 5 2/3 innings in the Rockies’ 5-0 win.
