The seven-time Cy Young Award winner and Houston native will be on the call alongside Karl Ravech, Eduardo Perez and Buster Olney.

Clemens, who pitched three of his 24 big league seasons with the Astros, started making appearances during ESPN's baseball broadcasts last year. Three times, he made guest appearances on ESPN's KayRod Cast, an alternative presentation of Sunday Night Baseball that airs on ESPN2. He also was part of an ESPN broadcast of a spring training game earlier this month.

"We've enjoyed working with Roger during his impressive KayRod Cast appearances and can't wait for him to join our opening night broadcast team as special guest game analyst," ESPN senior vice president Mark Gross said."The insights Roger has gained from his storied career, including his ties to Houston, will help inform the audience as the Astros begin their title defense and the sport begins a new era of gameplay.

Although Clemens, who went to Spring Woods High School and still lives in the Houston area, claims he never used performance-enhancing drugs, despite posting a career 354-184 record with a 3.12 ERA and 4,672 strikeouts, which is third behind only Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson .
