Russian military officials say they'll halt fighting in Mariupol, one of Ukraine's most war-ravaged cities, to allow thousands of civilians to flee.

The ministry said it will allow civilians to leave from the southern port city of Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia, roughly 140 miles away, according to The Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday announced it will allow civilians remaining in Mariupol, Ukraine, to evacuate to the city of Zaporizhzhia, about 140 miles away.
