Exclusive: Sharlto Copley, who has joined the cast of Netflix’s hit RussianDoll, says season 2 is even better than season 1.
Rejoice, Russian Doll fans—it looks like season 2 of the hit Netflix series might be even better than its predecessor, as Sharlto Copley has declared. The first season, which aired in 2019, ended on an ambiguous cliffhanger, and fans have waited with bated breath for a follow-up. The second season of Russian Doll was delayed due to complications with COVID-19, when many productions were forced to shut down.
A dark comedy from Leslye Headland , Russian Doll follows Nadia Vulvokov , who dies and becomes stuck in a time loop wherein she repeats the same day again and again. The show’s second season was renewed in August 2019, and filming was recently confirmed to have wrapped by Charlie Bennett, who plays Alan Zaveri, the series’ other protagonist. With the fates of Nadia and Alan up in the air, there is a lot for Headland and Lyonne to potentially tackle in the second season.

The first season took a simple storyline and gave it unexpected depth through character development.
No official release date for Russian Doll season 2 has been confirmed. However, it is expected to debut sometime in 2022, as the series recently wrapped filming. Based on the comments from Copley, it sounds like fans can expect Headland and Lyonne to deliver an engaging and exciting second season that will answer many of the questions that were left open-ended at the end of season 1. .
