A metallic judicial collar which once belonged to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is set to hit the auction block in September.
The medieval-looking “pegasus” collar was produced by jewelers Stella & Dot and gifted to the Justice by Los Angeles–based lawyer Susan Hyman — an RBG superfan.
The collar is scheduled to be sold by Potomack Auctions. A portion of the sale will be donated to American Bar Association’s During her 27 years on the bench Ginsburg became famous for her numerous judicial collars, with many taking on symbolism and meanings of their own. She had one for when she was in the majority, and another when she was in dissent.
Ginsburg wore the martial Pegasus collar during the court’s official 2018 photograph — the first to feature Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
