On Wednesday night San Antonio played its second game in the US Open Cup when it traveled to Tennessee to take on MLS-side Nashville SC in the tournament’s third round. Nashville knocked San Antonio out of the US Open Cup with a 1–0 win after scoring the only goal of the game in the 71st minute. There were bright spots for SAFC in the loss in Nashville. Defender Carter Manley played in his first game of the season after missing the first seven games of the season with a lower body injury. Wednesday also saw the return of a key piece from last year’s championship team as forward Sam Adineran played in his first game since coming to San Antonio on loan from St. Louis
