, a website devoted to lawn care, ranked 97 major U.S. cities from most to least green space. San Antonio was ranked 15 overall, which was the highest among Texas cities. Houston was No. 17 followed by El Paso and Austin, which were Nos. 19 and 22, respectively. Dallas came in at No. 35 and Fort Worth 42.
The website said it compared the cities based on five weighted factors, including the number of parks, total acreage, average yard size, share of land used for parks and recreation, and total public and private green area per capita. San Antonio, with popular locations like Brackenridge Park, was eighth overall in total park acreage but was No. 37 in space used for parks and recreation."In the summer, you can go for a swim at San Pedro Springs Park, the second-oldest park in the U.S.
The top city, according to the study, was Chesapeake, Virginia, with Jacksonville, Florida, and Nashville, Tennessee, rounding out the top three. Data for the report came from the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the Interior Beat, and Trust for Public Land.
