The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through 8 p.m. Saturday as a slow-moving storm system heads toward the region. It’s expected to bring several rounds of storms, possibly resulting in 3-6 inches of rainfall.

It’s expected to bring several rounds of storms, possibly resulting in 3-6 inches of rainfall along the Interstate 35 corridor and west to the Rio Grande by Saturday evening. But some of the “rainfall rates could be very intense,” the weather service warned.
The storms are expected to arrive in San Antonio from the west between 9 p.m. and midnight, reaching the I-35 corridor Saturday morning before dawn. NWS said that additional severe weather watches are possible later this evening. There will be two teams working out of each of its four service centers — 6927 W. Commerce in the Southwest Side, 1318 SE Loop 410 in the Southeast, 10303 Toolyard in the Northeast and 6939 W. Loop 1604 North in the Northwest — and two additional teams. They will be barricading crossings as needed to prevent drivers from driving into floodwaters.
