Things they don’t know we have picked up on.”
Assessing and vetting rumors builds trust among group members who may be genuinely trying to learn the truth, as well as those who tend to distrust traditional sources of information. “Conspiracy theories are actually a subset of rumors,” DiFonzo told me.
