Convicted sex trafficker Lawrence Ray, who coerced several Sarah Lawrence College students into his sex cult in 2010, is facing a life sentence for his 'sadistic' crimes.

Ray"obstructed justice and threatened his victims with retaliation" if they spoke out against his crimes in an effort to maintain his lifestyle. The then-50-year-old forced multiple victims to admit to false crimes on video as leverage to maintain control their lives, according to court documents. "Had the defendant suggested to her then that she become a prostitute, she would have been horrified. But he bided his time. For years, the defendant methodically eroded Drury’s self-esteem, self-respect, sexual autonomy, familial support system, and sense of reality, and gradually moved the line of deviancy inch by inch until Drury found herself submitting to horrendously painful acts of BDSM," Bracewell wrote.
Ray is also expected to owe his victims a total of more than $5 million in restitution, according to a Saturday filing.
