The letter calls for the province to fund spaces and services for 100 of these hard-to-house people in smaller facilities distributed around the city.
Kirton said he’s spoken with Social Services Minister Gene Makowsky about his letter, and heard an internal review is part of contract renewal talks with the STC. He said the province’s review doesn’t doesn’t consider any effect the facility has on the surrounding area.Article content “I apologize to the premier and the ministers; I have no part of this and I want no part of this,” he said.
Arcand challenged Kirton to make a motion at council to allocate $1.5 million to support the wellness centre. He said he already has regular meetings with stakeholders, and questions the need for another working group with the same people at the table.
