Justin Soroka broke down in tears when he learned his three-year ordeal after a mauling by a Saskatoon police canine was coming to a close.
Soroka said he has watched police video footage from different camera angles.
After a 30-minute chase in which stop sticks were unsuccessful, he pulled up to an alley near Cosmo Civic Centre around 6 p.m., intending to give himself up, Soroka said. He ran past a house and garage, seeking an open, clear spot where police could see he wasn’t armed so he “didn’t have to worry about getting hurt,” he said.
Police said a man matching a suspect description was seen running away from the scene, and disregarded orders to stop. Cst. Cole Miklautsch is charged in the 2019 incident. Cst. Dennis Baron is charged in the 2020 incident.
