New York City's Central Park hit 91 degrees Wednesday -- this marks the first 90-degree October day in the city in 78 years.Several record October highs were set on Tuesday, including: 93 degrees in Cleveland; 88 degrees in Syracuse; 95 degrees in Atlanta and 96 degrees in Pensacola, Florida.Temperatures are expected to plunge to 47 degrees in New York and 50 degrees in D.C. this weekend.The rainfall in Des Moines on Tuesday reached a new record.
Flood alerts are in effect in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.
