SDPD: 3 people injured in shooting near El Cerrito shopping center [Breaking]
Three people were shot and wounded Wednesday night near a small shopping center in El Cerrito, San Diego police said.
At least two of the people suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and their injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, Officer Robert Heims said. The condition of the third person was not immediately known. The shooting occurred just before 8:30 p.m. near University Avenue and 54th Street, near a shopping center with a Northgate Market grocery store and Burlington clothing store, Heims said.
Police believe the shooting occurred outside, although some witnesses and victims may have sought shelter inside the nearby businesses, Heims said. Paramedics took the three victims to hospitals for treatment. It was unclear what led up to the gunfire, and no description of the shooter or shooters was immediately available, Heims said.
